At Kushaan, we put quality and sustainability front and centre of our brand promise. We believe interiors should be consciously curated, so our fabrics and finds are thoughtful, stylish, and most beautifully of all, sourced and made with integrity.
Kushaan’s is a design aesthetic built on centuries old artisan traditions from Central Asia. Our exuberantly pigmented Ikats and richly tactile Suzani’s pull from every thread of Asian design history, with style credentials proven over centuries.
Made with painstaking artistry, these intricate fabrics have an heirloom quality you can see and feel. And infused with Kushaan’s signature clean lines and detailing, they’re updated with sumptuous modernity into style heroes for today’s consciously curated interiors. Prepare to swoop and swoon.
The watery, ethereal Ikat is a weave originating from Southeast Asia, with the name derived from the Malaysian word menigkat, meaning ‘to tie,’. Kushaan’s designs are crafted from silk threads infused by age- old traditional relief dying into a kaleidoscope of Matisse-like hues.
Often created by ‘master weavers’ (the top talent in this ancient artistry) this typically vibrant, eclectic motif has a whimsy yet classic playfulness, allowing it to punch above its weight with serous style clout.
Exalted for their art-like qualities, these pattern-rich textile panels cleverly intertwine their femininity with seductive refinement, flirting endlessly with the spaces they fill.
Their name derives from the Persian word suzan, meaning ‘needle’, and traditionally brides and their mothers would weave Suzani’s as part of their dowry. Kushaan’s intricate designs originate from Uzbekistan and feature the finest hand-embroidery using a rainbow of silk threads, ‘touch-me’ textures and embellishments.
A sisterhood of diverse, dynamic, and innovative collaborators weave their magic into Kushaan’s rich textiles. This team of strong talented women are a tour de force – celebrating the regional traditions of old with an intoxicating mix of pattern play and double weave delight.
We’re proud to support the centuries old design wisdom of these craftspeople, as well as the communities that continue to shape their traditions though time. Their artistry leaves a lasting impression - just see for yourself.
